My Grand Father was born in the territory in 1885 near what is now Pierre.
Very impactful remembering his stories of near by Indians-
This 1882 map serves as the endpaper for my book, Santa Fe: A Pictorial History. Several buildings are still there, though some were altered in the early 20th century because they didn't look "Santa Fe," so under today's "adobe" are the 19th century features (some remaining, some removed). It's a wonderful lithograph of a wonderful town! John Sherman

A great reproduction on excellent paper stock. I'm using it for writing a book set in the time period it was created and is a great resource to keep track of people an dplaced.
