Morocco is a country located in the westernmost part of the Maghreb region of North Africa. The country shares land borders with Algeria and the Western Sahara. The country spans an area of 446,300 square kilometers (that’s 172,300 square miles), and holds a population of 37 million. The identity and culture of Morocco is often seen as a blend of Arabic, European, and Berber cultures. The capital city is Rabat, while the largest city in Morocco is Casablanca. The government of the country is known as a constitutional monarchy as well as a parliamentary system. The current leader of Morocco is Aziz Akhannouch.

A great section of Morocco is very mountainous. Two ranges dominate within the country, and they are the Atlas Mountains and the Rif Mountains. The highest point of the country is Mount Toubkal, standing at an altitude of 4,167 meters, or 13,671 feet tall. The country is one of three nations in the world to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastline borders. When it comes to the climate, the country is known to have both a β€œhot summer Mediterranean climate” and a β€œhot desert climate”. Essentially, the weather is typically dry, warm, and has hot, long summers. Morocco is known to be a biodiversity hotspot due to its location on the Mediterranean basin. However, this area is known to be home to several endemic species undergoing habitat loss and could potentially face extinction. Many of the primary predators of the land are facing endangerment, such as the Atlas bear and Barbary leopard. The Barbary macaque, which is a primate endemic to the land of Morocco, is also endangered due to trading, human interruption, urbanization, as well as the economic use of wood, causing its habitations to slowly disappear. The trade of animals and plants for use as food, pets, and medicine is highly illegal within the country, however the law does not stop anyone, and it is a very common occurrence.

The economy of Morocco is known to be liberal, which is governed by law of supply and demand. Along with this, the economy is the fifth largest in Africa by terms of GDP. Some of the largest exports of Morocco are insulated wire, cars, tomatoes, citrus, mixed mine or chemical fertilizers, cars, and calcium phosphates. Tourism plays a large role in the economy, which is because of the country’s location on the coast, the culture, and history. In 2019, it was estimated that the country attracted 13 million tourists. Agriculture also plays a role in the economy, as 40% of the country’s workforce is employed in the agricultural sector.

Because of its decently large size and a smaller land area, the population is highly concentrated in larger urban areas. Since the country is still developing, it is home to a relatively younger population. In fact, one-fourth of the population is fifteen years old or under. There is currently a population of around 84,000 immigrants in the country, with a majority of them being of French origin.

How to Choose the Right Map

Start with the place or subject that matters, then choose the artwork, format, and size that best fit your space and story.

Choose a hometown, favorite destination, family location, military base, park, lake, railroad, or other place that carries a personal connection.

Try searching by a city, county, state, landmark, year, or specific place name.

Look closely at the map year, geographic coverage, orientation, labels, landmarks, and overall visual style. Different maps of the same place can tell very different stories.

Use the product images and zoom tools to inspect streets, names, boundaries, and historic features.

Select an unframed print for flexibility, a ready-to-hang solid wood frame for a finished presentation, or a wrapped canvas for a clean gallery-style appearance.

Framed prints include protective plexiglass and arrive ready to hang.

Consider the wall, furniture, viewing distance, and amount of visual impact you want. Larger maps make striking focal points, while smaller sizes work well in offices, studies, entryways, and grouped displays.

Measure the available wall area before choosing your final print size.
