Lithuania is one of three Baltic states located in Northern Europe, and it lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. Lithuania shares a border with Latvia, Belarus, Poland, as well as Russia. With a population of around 2.8 million inhabitants, Lithuania spans an area of 65,300 square kilometers, or 25,200 square miles. The capital city, which is also the largest city, is Vilnius. Other major cities within Lithuania are Kaunas and KlaipΔ—da. Lithuania is a developed country, and ranks highly in topics like civil liberties, freedom of the press, internet freedom, peacefulness, as well as democratic governance.

The landscape of Lithuania is a combination of moderate lowlands and highlands, as the landscape of Lithuania was once smoothed by glaciers during the Ice Age. A mixed forest zone covers around 33% of the land. Other terrain features include wetlands as well as several lakes. Some lakes worthy to mention are DrΕ«kΕ‘iai, which is the largest, Tauragnas, the deepest, and Asveja, which is the longest. The highest point of Lithuania is AukΕ‘tojas Hill, which stands at 294 meters, or 965 feet high. Lithuania’s climate is temperate, with maritime and continental influences due to the damp air from the Atlantic. Precipitation amounts differ based on where you may be in the country. For example, the coast experiences around 31.5 inches of rainfall, while the highlands in the country experience an average of 35.4 inches. Severe storms are rare within eastern parts of the country, however they are fairly common on the coast.

The wildlife of Lithuania is very diverse. Some commonly found animals within the country include wolves, foxes, otters, badgers, ermine, wild boars, and many different species of rodents. Within deep forest habitats, one can find elk, stags, deer, beavers, mink, as well as water rats. The country is home to hundreds of bird species such as ducks, geese, swans, hawks, herons, white storks, and even bald eagles. Lithuania is a country that cares deeply about its environment, and has vowed to cut down on carbon emission levels, as well as focusing on renewable energy.

Lithuania is home to an open and mixed economy that is classified by the World Bank as a high income economy. The three largest sectors making up the economy are services, industry, and agriculture. Some of the largest exports are agricultural products and food, chemical products and plastics, machinery and appliances, mineral products, and wood and furniture. Other smaller exports include rolled tobacco, wheat, cars, and insulated wire.

According to 2014 estimates, the median age of Lithuania was 41.2 years old (38.5 years for men, and 43.7 years for women). This is a fairly common median age to find in a highly developed modern country like Lithuania. The total fertility rate within the country is 1.59 children born per woman. As of 2014, 29% of all child births within the country were to unmarried women. In 2013, the average age for first marriage was 27 years old for women, and 29.3 years for men.

How to Choose the Right Map

Start with the place or subject that matters, then choose the artwork, format, and size that best fit your space and story.

Choose a hometown, favorite destination, family location, military base, park, lake, railroad, or other place that carries a personal connection.

Try searching by a city, county, state, landmark, year, or specific place name.

Look closely at the map year, geographic coverage, orientation, labels, landmarks, and overall visual style. Different maps of the same place can tell very different stories.

Use the product images and zoom tools to inspect streets, names, boundaries, and historic features.

Select an unframed print for flexibility, a ready-to-hang solid wood frame for a finished presentation, or a wrapped canvas for a clean gallery-style appearance.

Framed prints include protective plexiglass and arrive ready to hang.

Consider the wall, furniture, viewing distance, and amount of visual impact you want. Larger maps make striking focal points, while smaller sizes work well in offices, studies, entryways, and grouped displays.

Measure the available wall area before choosing your final print size.
