Tennessee, home of the country music capital of the world, took statehood in 1796. Since then, countless beautiful, historic maps have been created.

In our historic map archives, we have many old Tennessee maps highlighting almost every county in the state, including Shelby, Davidson, Knox, Hamilton, Rutherford, Williamson, Montgomery, Sumner, Sullivan, and Wilson. The most common map requests we receive are for the cities of Nashville-Davidson, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Jackson, Johnson City, and Bartlett.

If you are looking for a specific Tennessee map and don’t see it on this page, contact us, and we will check our archives.

From vibrant city life in Memphis or Nashville to the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains and the Appalachians, the state of Tennessee is a land of great experiences.

The state’s capital, Nashville, is the heart of country music and indeed a one-of-a-kind city. Music is woven into the fabric of the town and its influence is felt around every corner. The famous Grand Ole Opry House and Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are at the core of the Nashville experience. Did you know that the Grand Ole Opry has the honor of being the longest radio show in history?

Memphis holds its own as well when it comes to music. The city’s legendary Sun Studio is where Johnny Cash, B.B. King, and Elvis Presley recorded albums. Memphis is also where Elvis’ home, Graceland, is located. It’s such a popular tourist attraction that it’s the second most visited home in the United States (the White House is number one on the list). Over half a million people visit Graceland every year.

Another city in Tennessee that’s rich in history is Lynchburg, the birthplace of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey. At over 150 years old, the company’s distillery is the oldest in the United States. It remains a working distillery, producing the top-selling whiskey globally, and the public is invited inside for daily tours.

Turning to Tennessee’s outdoors, the state is known for its beautiful, varying landscapes. There are scenic valleys and waterfalls, rolling hills, mountainous peaks, and cavernous bedrock. You might be surprised to learn that there are over 3,800 documented caves in the state of Tennessee.

Finally, we have some fun facts to share:

In 1907, President Teddy Roosevelt was served Maxwell House coffee while visiting Tennessee. He was the one who coined the well-known phrase, “Good ‘til the last drop.”

The city of Kingston, located south of Knoxville, was the state capital for one day on September 21, 1807, when the general assembly met there.

The state of Tennessee has 10 state songs.

The tow truck was invented in Chattanooga in 1916 by a man named Ernest Holmes, who modified his 1913 Cadillac to tow other vehicles.

The first mini-golf course was located in Chattanooga.

How to Choose the Right Map

Start with the place or subject that matters, then choose the artwork, format, and size that best fit your space and story.

Choose a hometown, favorite destination, family location, military base, park, lake, railroad, or other place that carries a personal connection.

Try searching by a city, county, state, landmark, year, or specific place name.

Look closely at the map year, geographic coverage, orientation, labels, landmarks, and overall visual style. Different maps of the same place can tell very different stories.

Use the product images and zoom tools to inspect streets, names, boundaries, and historic features.

Select an unframed print for flexibility, a ready-to-hang solid wood frame for a finished presentation, or a wrapped canvas for a clean gallery-style appearance.

Framed prints include protective plexiglass and arrive ready to hang.

Consider the wall, furniture, viewing distance, and amount of visual impact you want. Larger maps make striking focal points, while smaller sizes work well in offices, studies, entryways, and grouped displays.

Measure the available wall area before choosing your final print size.
