Around 82% of Americans reside within urban areas, which include suburbs. The five largest cities within the United States are New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston.

The average life expectancy at birth is estimated to be 73.2 years for men, and 79.1 years for women. Currently, some of the leading causes of death include accidental deaths, drugs, heart and liver disease, as well as suicide. The United States is believed to be home of one of the largest suicide rates amongst high-income countries. The United States is the only developed country in the world in which health care is not universal.
