Hungary serves as a unitary, parliamentary republic with both a president and prime minister. The current president is Katalin Novák, and the current prime minister is Viktor Orbán.
Hungary is a developed country, which can be shown due to its relatively older population as well as the decreasing birth and/or fertility rates. It is estimated that the country’s total fertility rate is 1.43 children per woman, which is lower than the replacement rate of 2.1. As a result of these low rates, the population has continued to gradually decline. Hungary is home to one of the oldest populations in the world, with an average age of 42.7 years. The life expectancy is 71.96 years for men, and 79.62 years for women.
