Along with this, the annual population growth is very low, with birth rates and immigration only slightly exceeding death rates and emmigration. It is estimated that the literacy rate amongst adults is 99%. Belgium has a relatively older population, with an average age of around 41.6 years old. Along with this, the average life expectancy within Belgium is around 79.2 years old for men, to 83.7 years old for women.

The climate within Belgium is known as maritime temperate, meaning that mild summers occur as well as cool winters. There is a significant amount of precipitation in all seasons during Belgium, which is very common for countries within Northwestern Europe.
